The Middle East is a region where is king and fuel is cheap, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have pressed up the cost of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one service is making the most of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing successful too, already their client-list contains McDonald's.
