The Middle East is an area where car is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have actually risen the cost of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one business is benefiting from the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing rewarding too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
