MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently benefit from a 20p differential but that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting with the UK sustainable .

Mr George stated "a variety of small companies in Cornwall presently earn money from utilized cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this sort of industry going it does require simply a bit of lift which can be found in the kind of tax foregone."

Biodiesel is a blend of traditional diesel, rapeseed and vegetable oils.
